Family Therapy & Support: Maple Ridge & Beyond

Rooted Together

Every family moves through seasons of change, conflict, and growth — and no family gets through them without a few hard seasons of their own. Family therapy and counselling offers a grounded, judgment-free space to strengthen communication, rebuild trust, and navigate transitions together, so that every voice in your household feels heard and valued.

Whether you're working through a specific conflict, adjusting to a major life change, or simply want to feel more connected as a family, this is a space for the whole family system — parents, children, and everyone in between.

What Family Counselling Can Support

Just as roots beneath the surface hold a whole plant steady, the relationships within a family hold everything else up — even when it doesn't always feel that way. Family therapy and support can help with:

  • Communication breakdowns between parents and children

  • Blended family and step-family adjustment

  • Divorce, separation, and co-parenting support

  • Sibling conflict

  • Major life transitions — a new baby, a move, a loss

  • Parenting differences and family stress

  • Supporting a child through anxiety, behavioural changes, or big emotions

  • Navigating autism, ADHD, and neurodiversity as a family

Parenting Support & Guidance

Steady Support for the Whole-Family Picture

No parent has it all figured out, and family therapy isn't about pretending otherwise. Sometimes the most helpful thing isn't more advice — it's a second set of eyes on what's happening at home, and a space to step back and think through it together as a family.

Parenting counselling within family therapy looks at the bigger picture: how parenting approaches, communication styles, and each family member's needs fit together — and where small shifts might ease the friction everyone's feeling. This work often includes specialized support for families raising neurodivergent children, including those with autism or ADHD, so the whole household feels equipped, not just the child.

  • Where So Much of Life Happens

School is so much more than academics — it's where children navigate friendships, manage emotions, and face social pressures. When a child is struggling, it rarely stays at school; it ripples into every part of their life, including home. I work collaboratively with families, and where appropriate, with teachers and school staff, to help children thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.

For neurodivergent children, including those with autism, ADHD, or other learning differences, school can bring unique challenges. I bring specialized experience supporting these children and their families, helping create environments where they feel understood and set up to succeed on their own terms.

Every child deserves to feel safe, seen, and supported — in the classroom and beyond.

(For support navigating the Individualized Education Plan process specifically, see IEP Meetings below.)

  • Navigating IEPs — You Don't Have to Do It Alone

IEP meetings can feel intimidating and overwhelming for many parents. Between the paperwork, the terminology, and the room full of professionals, it's easy to feel like your voice — and your child's — can get lost in the process. I'm here to walk alongside you, helping you understand what's happening at each step and feel more confident and prepared going in.

Together, we'll make sure your child's voice and needs are clearly heard, and work collaboratively with you and the school team to put the right accommodations in place. This isn't about you facing the school system on your own — it's about having someone in your corner who understands the process and is invested in the outcome, just as much as you are.

Every child deserves a plan that truly reflects who they are, their strengths, and what they need to thrive — not just a generic checklist of accommodations. My goal is to help you feel empowered and heard throughout the process, so you can advocate for your child with clarity and confidence.

  • Lending My Voice to Help Yours Be Heard

As a therapist — not a psychologist — my role in this area is one of support and advocacy. I am not able to provide formal diagnostic assessments, but I can offer supplementary letters and professional documentation based on my clinical observations that may help inform and support the process.

When a family is pursuing a potential diagnosis of autism, ADHD, or other neurodevelopmental differences, having a therapist's observations and insights can be a valuable piece of the puzzle. My documentation can help paint a clearer picture for the psychologists, pediatricians, and other professionals involved in the formal assessment process — ensuring your child's needs are well represented and nothing important is overlooked.

Standing with you, for your child who holds your whole heart.
