Marriage & Couples Therapy: Maple Ridge & Beyond

Stronger, Together

Relationships are hard — even in the best of times. Every couple faces moments of tension, miscommunication, or feeling stuck, and that's completely normal. Seeking couples counselling doesn't mean your relationship has failed. It means you care enough to invest in it.

Marriage and couples therapy offers a neutral, supportive space to work through the challenges that naturally arise in any relationship — big or small. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from couples counselling. In fact, couples who come in before reaching a breaking point often find they have more to work with, and more room to grow.

Whether you're looking to improve communication, navigate a difficult season, or simply deepen your connection — Andrea Pastoor Psychotherapy is a space for both of you to be heard.

What Couples Counselling Can Help With

Just as roots grow strongest when given room to stretch, relationships grow strongest when both partners have the space to be honest, understood, and supported. Marriage and relationship counselling can offer a steady, grounded path forward if you're navigating:

  • Communication breakdowns or recurring conflict

  • Feeling disconnected, distant, or like roommates rather than partners

  • Trust and betrayal, including infidelity

  • Life transitions — a new baby, a move, a career change, retirement

  • Blended family or parenting differences

  • Intimacy and connection concerns

  • Pre-marital counselling and preparing for a life together

  • Considering separation and wanting clarity before making a decision

Wherever you and your partner are starting from, couples therapy meets you there — without judgment, and without picking sides.

My Approach to Couples Therapy

My work with couples is grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) — one of the most researched and effective approaches to marriage and relationship counselling. At the heart of most relationship struggles is a deeper need to feel safe, seen, and connected. EFT helps couples identify the patterns and cycles that keep them feeling stuck, and gently rebuilds the emotional bond and secure attachment that allows love to grow again.

Together, we'll slow down the moments that usually spiral into the same old argument, and get curious about what's really being asked for underneath it — often connection, reassurance, or to simply feel like a priority to one another. This isn't about deciding who's right. It's about understanding each other again.

You Don't Have to Navigate This Alone

Every relationship moves through seasons — some easy, some harder to weather. Couples counselling isn't a last resort; it's an investment in the partnership you're building together.
